Info zu Right Kinda Wrong
Oscar and Chris are hustling their brand new collaboration Right Kinda Wrong - working Wellington this weekend with a series of gigs in different surroundings with differing line ups. Tonight, we get to see them strut with the Superheaters bringing Wayne Mason along to add terrific keys to an already great sound.
Oscar is a second-generation bluesman (guitar and harmonica) hailing from Dunedin (Born in the USA) He blends soul, funk and blues into a heady mix of hypnotic slow-burning ballads and driving rhythms.
Chris is our very own Wellington wonder guitarist, heard and lauded often for his ability to fall into the music and play just the right, tasty stuff.
"Right Kinda Wrong finds the two collaborating for the first time on an album packed with explosive '50s & '60s inspired electric blues. Driven by Richard Te One (drums) and Steve Moodie (bass), the album drips with greasy grooves and captures the vintage sound of classic Chess and Excello Records artists."
Oscar LaDell, vocals, guitar, harmonica
Chris Armour, guitar
Richard Te One, drums
Steve Moodie, bass
Oscar LaDell
21, was born in the US and raised in Purakaunui, Dunedin. The second-generation bluesman started out playing blues standards in nightclubs around Dunedin, featuring songs by Muddy Waters, BB King and Guitar Slim. Over the years, funk, rock, soul and more have found their way into Oscar’s music.
In the space of one of LaDell’s original songs, the sound can range from a gentle slow dance to explosive and hypnotic guitar solos. Oscar’s powerful and expressive guitar playing and soulful singing act as one to create a sound that is both reminiscent of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and fresh.
