„Komorebi“ ist das erste vollständig solo eingespielte und selbst produzierte Album des international gefeierten Cellisten Arlen Hlusko.

Inspiriert von der Suche nach Licht in der Dunkelheit und dem Bekenntnis zur Hoffnung inmitten der Verwüstung, basiert das Album „Komorebi“ des international gefeierten Cellisten Arlen Hlusko auf Bachs tief bewegender Suite Nr. 5, die mit Kompositionen einer Vielzahl neuer amerikanischer Stimmen kontrastiert wird, deren Einflüsse aus den unterschiedlichsten Musikrichtungen stammen, darunter Bluegrass, indische Raags, indigene Wurzeln, argentinischer Tango und vieles mehr. Das Album, das bei Tippet Rise aufgenommen wurde und dort am 25. September 2026 erscheinen soll, unterstreicht den Reichtum und die Kraft von Gemeinschaft und Geschichtenerzählen.

Hailed for her “sublime cello prowess” (Take Effect), “absorbing originality” (Gramophone), and “mesmerizing beauty” (NY Music Daily), internationally acclaimed Canadian cellist, curator, and director ARLEN HLUSKO is a dynamic, versatile artist who has performed extensively as soloist and chamber musician across North & South Americas, Asia, and Europe. She is “capable of playing with great delicacy but also fearlessness; regardless of the character of the material, she executes it with authority and conviction […] and open-hearted expression is present throughout” (Textura). Arlen has performed solo recitals from Tippet Rise to Carnegie Hall to Toronto’s Summer Music in the Gardens to the Guangzhou Opera House and beyond, and is the cellist of the Bang on a Can All-Stars sextet (extolled by the New York Times for “combining the power and punch of a rock band with the precision and clarity of a chamber ensemble”). She regularly performs with ensembles including The Knights, Dolce Suono Ensemble, and the Manhattan Chamber Players; is a member of the Harry Chapin Band; and recent alumna of the Curtis Institute of Music and Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect. She is currently the Artist-in-Residence at Grace Farms in New Canaan, CT, where she is performing regularly as both soloist and chamber musician, as well as curating chamber music performances and musical community experiences, and directing the musical half of their new Lecture with Concert series.

Interested in a wide array of music, Arlen has collaborated intimately with an immense variety of artists including Jordi Savall, Midori, Meredith Monk, Jacob Collier, David Byrne, Anthony Roth Costanza, and Diplo, and is a GRAMMY award winner for her collaboration with The Crossing, as well as a laureate of several competitions. Arlen was featured on CBC’s “30 Under 30,” and is a proud Larsen Artist. She has debuted with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, BBC Concert Orchestra, and the Calgary Philharmonic, among others, and has been a regular at chamber music festivals including Spoleto USA, Tippet Rise, Bay Chamber Concerts, Rockport Music, and Music from Angel Fire. Committed to using her music to connect with and serve her community, Arlen founded and directs her own interactive chamber music concert series, Philadelphia Performances for Autism; directs a free monthly concert series (“Music Mondays at Saint Charles Borromeo”) and is involved with numerous communities, including Musicopia’s “Lullaby Project” and Carnegie Hall’s “Musical Connections” at Sing Sing Correctional Facility.
