Das Warten hat ein Ende! Heute verkünden Helsinkis Gothic-Rock-Vampire, THE 69 EYES, dass ihr neues Album »Death Of Darkness« am 21. April über Atomic Fire Records erscheinen wird (weltweit exkl. Finnland, wo Vallila Music House die Veröffentlichung händelt).
„Wir begannen dieses Album Single für Single zu schreiben, veröffentlichten zuerst einzelne Songs, dann eine EP und jetzt folgt schließlich die ganze Platte. Die Methode hat alles frisch sowie uns auf Trab gehalten, während wir neue Musik aufgenommen und geschrieben haben. Unser Hauptziel war es, THE 69 EYES wieder ins finnische Radio zu bringen. Unsere Musik läuft dort immer noch, aber hauptsächlich über 15 Jahre alte Klassiker. Wie wäre es also mit neuen Hits? Die erste Single, ‚Drive‘, hat dies direkt möglich gemacht und wir haben hier in Finnland den Jackpot geknackt, indem wir Teil des Mainstream-TV-Musikshow-Formats »Sing meinen Song – Das Tauschkonzert« waren! Wir sind zurück und freuen uns auf viele ausverkaufte Shows“, kommentiert THE–69–EYES-Frontmann Jyrki 69.
»Death Of Darkness« wurde von Erno Laitinen in den Inkfish Studios (Helsinki, Finnland) aufgenommen. Miles Walker war gemeinsam mit ebenjenem Erno Laitinen in den Westside Sound Studios (Atlanta, GA; USA) für den Mix der Scheibe verantwortlich, während deren Mastering von Tom Baker übernommen wurde. Das dazugehörige Artwork stammt aus der Feder des britischen Künstlers Adrian Baxter (u.a. PARADISE LOST, THE HALO EFFECT, MAYHEM).

Once you’ve survived the 80’s rock scene, you become unstoppable — and The 69 Eyes are living proof. Formed in Helsinki in 1989 and still going strong with the same line-up some four decades later, the Helsinki Vampires have earned their legendary status. In a world with fewer and fewer true believers in leather jackets, midnight sunglasses and low-slung guitars, The 69 Eyes keep the Johnny Thunders’ flame burning like an endless sleazy club night back in the days.
Their biggest hit "Lost Boys" from 2005 was made into an iconic music video by MTV's Jackass star and skater Bam Margera and the song still remains on annual Halloween rock playlists. Another foot on Glam, another on Goth, The 69 Eyes has released thirteen albums, reaching gold and platinum and a mainstream status on their native Finland. They have been touring without any notable breaks all over the world the last twenty years.
Vocals, a lead and a rhythm guitar, a bass and drums are the classic rock band line-up. The 69 Eyes have that magic on stage that is needed for these elements to carry on beyond the rock'n'roll dreams, theirs and their cult following.
