Skinny Dippers is the Brooklyn-based indie music project created by Ryan Gross. His music takes inspiration from his childhood in Maine and artists such as Hovvdy, TOLEDO, The Shins, and Stephen Malkmus.
With lyrics that read like late-night confessions and a vocal performance that grows from restrained whispers to choral cacophony, the song captures the tension of a relationship on the edge—haunted by unspoken truths and emotional distance. Layered guitar textures, eerie synths, and a cinematic build create a brooding atmosphere that lingers long after the final chorus.
“It’s about those moments where doubt creeps in and you find yourself needing to know something you’re not sure you want the answer to,” says frontman Ryan Gross. “There’s a quiet panic in that space, and I tried to capture that feeling both lyrically and sonically.”
