Liz Cracchiolo
is an award-nominated jazz vocalist whose career was built on a foundation of musical theatre, storytelling, and a lifelong love of the stage. Originally trained in Musical Theatre at the University of Arizona, Cracchiolo established a celebrated theatrical career with award-winning performances in productions including Closer Than Ever, Les Misérables, The Producers, Mamma Mia!, Next to Normal, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Her theatrical training continues to inform her work as a vocalist, bringing a distinctive sense of character, storytelling, humor, and connection to every performance.
Her creative partnership with Broadway performer and vocal coach Ellyn Marsh led to two original New York cabaret productions, If Only I Were Taller and I Do Men, performed at legendary venues including The Duplex and the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Around 2013, Cracchiolo began venturing more deeply into jazz performance, initially alongside her theatrical work. What began as an exploration quickly became a home. Drawn to the improvisational heart of jazz and the freedom it offered as an artist, she discovered a musical language that allowed her to combine everything she loved about performance—storytelling, spontaneity, character, and connection—with the unique thrill of creating something different every time she stepped onstage.
Based in Tucson, Arizona, Cracchiolo has since become one of the Southwest’s most engaging jazz performers, appearing at festivals, theaters, jazz clubs, and concert venues throughout the region and internationally. Her signature “Bombshell Next Door” persona combines vintage glamour with an approachable, contemporary energy, while her musical influences—including Peggy Lee, Julie London, and Blossom Dearie—can be felt in her sophisticated phrasing, warmth, wit, and unmistakable sense of style. She has been nominated for Best Jazz in the Tucson Weekly’s Best of Tucson poll for four consecutive years and has performed throughout the United States and internationally, including recent performances in Italy.
Cracchiolo’s forthcoming album, I’m a Woman, represents the natural evolution of that journey. The album reimagines familiar pop and rock songs through a jazz lens, transforming songs including “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” “Mr. Brightside,” “Tainted Love,” “These Boots Were Made for Walkin’,” and “Fever” into sophisticated, unexpected performances. Rather than simply putting a jazz spin on songs people already know, Cracchiolo approaches each one as an opportunity to uncover something new—finding the sensuality, humor, vulnerability, and strength beneath the familiar melodies.
Recorded in New York City at Sear Sound with engineer Dave Darlington, I’m a Woman features an exceptional ensemble including Benny Benack III, Savannah Harris, and Russell Hall, with production by Jonathan Michel and Drew Wutke. Already receiving enthusiastic critical attention ahead of its September 18, 2026 release, the album marks an exciting new chapter for an artist whose work continues to blur the lines between jazz, theatre, and popular music. At the heart of it all is the same impulse that first drew Cracchiolo to the stage: the belief that a great song can tell a story, create a character, invite an audience into the moment—and, when the magic is right, become something entirely new.
