Carlo Francesco Cesarini war ein berühmter Violinvirtuose des 17. und 18. Jahrhunderts, genannt Carlo del Violino. Als Direttore dell’Accademia musicale beim Kardinal und Kunstmäzen Benedetto Pamphilj, dessen Palazzo zu den Zentren des römischen Musiklebens zählte, folgte er auf Arcangelo Corelli, der an den Hof des Papstneffen Pietro Ottoboni gewechselt war. Im »Manuskript 2248« der Biblioteca Casanatense in Rom sind zahlreiche Kompositionen Cesarinis enthalten, darunter die sechs bisher unveröffentlichten Kantaten dieser Aufnahme. Mit der wunderbaren Sopranistin Stéphanie Varnerin und dem aus der Academia Montis Regalis hervorgegangenen Ensemble L'Astrée ist ein fast in Vergessenheit geratener Komponist wiederzuentdecken.

French soprano Stéphanie Varnerin has obtained several awards including First prize of the 2014 International Baroque Singing Competition of Froville, the first prize of excellence at the Concours International de chant Léopold Bellan (Paris), the 2010 Orphée from the Academy of Lyrical record for the production of JP Calvin’s La Cantarice Chauve. In 2013 she is finalist of the Armel Internation Opera Competition.
During her training she enters for a year the Ateneo Internationale della lyrica in Sulmona (Italy) where she works under Mirella Freni, Gianni Raimondi, Lucianna Serra, Dario Lucantoni, Italo Nuziata. She takes part to masterclasses with artists such as Andreas Scholl, Gérard Lesne, Martin Köningsberger, Wieland Kuijken, José Cura... in 2012 she enters the Opera Studio in Geneva.
On stage, Stephanie Varnein is Mrs Martin in JP Calvin’s La Cantatrice Chauve at L’Athénée-Louis Jouvet in Paris with the Lamoureux Orchestra, Caroline in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Véronique (title part) in Messager’s Opera, Lecoq’s La fille de Mme Angot (title part). She is also Blanche de la force in Poulenc’s Dialogue des Carmélites. During her course at the Opera Studio in Geneva she is Livietta in Pergolesi’s Livietta e Tracolo, Colette in Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s Le Devin du village and both Melle Lambercier and Melle Goton in JM Curti’s Tic-Tac Rousseau.
She usually performs in concert with Le Collegium Orpheus conducted by J-M Labylle in Vivaldi, Handel or Mozart programs; with Le Folies du Temps conducted by Olivier Dejours in Bach or Pergolesi programs. With the Lamoureux Orchestra she performs in opera extracts programs... Stephanie Varnerin is now able to defend all the repertories from baroque music to modern music through Opera Comique or Romantic Music.
During the 2013 Armel International Opera Competition she is the Governess in Britten’s The Turn of the screw in Istanbul and Szeged Opera Houses. Following the competition, this production wins the Arte Live Web Award and the critics largely hail Stephanie Varnerin’s interpretation.
Stéphanie Varnerin is also forming a duo with her brother Mathieu The Duo Varnerin. Together they perform French Melodies with a special rewriting for Guitare and Soprano. www.duovarnerin.com
This season she performs regularly with the Italian ensemble l’Astrée (Chamber version of the Academia Montis Regalis) in a Vivaldi’s Cantatas Program in places such as the Festival Cervantino in Mexico or the Quirinale (Italian Presidential Palace) where the program is recorded by RAI 3.
In September 2015 Stéphanie Varnerin was invited on France Musique Radio in the Generation Jeunes Interprètes (Gaëlle Le Gallic) program where she performs Vivaldi’s Cantatas with Giorgio Tabacco (cemballo) and Patrick Cohen-Akénine (violon).
