Biographie Gwen Cahue
Gwen Cahue
From a very young age, Gwen Cahue was passionate about music and quickly taught himself to play the guitar. He began by learning various styles (Jimmy Hendrix being his first inspiration) before discovering, by chance, the music of Django Reinhardt. Immediately captivated by Django's genius, he set aside the electric guitar and discovered a deep passion for the acoustic sounds of this string jazz. His desire to deepen his knowledge led him to settle in Strasbourg, a true stronghold of Gypsy jazz, where he had the opportunity to meet some of the greatest musicians of the style (Bireli Lagrène, Tchavolo Schmitt, Yorgui Loefler, etc.), from whom he developed his own unique musical style.
After a few years, he moved to Paris, where he performed regularly with his trio in jazz clubs (Atelier Charonne, Sunset, Duc des Lombards, Taverne de Cluny).
He also participates in the "Swingtet," a group paying tribute to Django Reinhardt in the purest tradition, with whom he performs at various festivals ("Samois/Seine," "Django L'H de Barcelone," "Jazz à Fontdouce," and "Jazz entre les deux tours de La Rochelle") and invites artists such as Sansévérino, Romane, and Angélo Debarre.
Gwen also appears as a guest in projects like "Autour de la guitare avec Jean-Felix Lalanne," "Selmer 607," "Django Club," and "Rainbow Duet," where he shares the stage with some of the most renowned guitarists of the new generation.
He released his first album as a leader, "Memories of Paris" (Label Ouest, 2019), which showcases his diverse influences, ranging from American jazz to Django Reinhardt and Michel Petrucciani.
In August 2021, he released his second album: “Margin Call” Gwen Cahue Acoustic Quartet, accompanied by William Brunard, Julien Cattiaux and Bastien Ribot.
