„Dieses Album entstand aus dem Versuch heraus, herauszufinden, wie man in einer Welt vorankommt, die sich aggressiv chaotisch und in ständigem Wandel befindlich anfühlt“, sagt Pruitt. „In den letzten Jahren hat sich so viel verändert: politisch, technologisch, persönlich und – natürlich – durch den irreversiblen Schaden, der dem Klima unseres Planeten zugefügt wurde. Ich habe viel darüber nachgedacht, dass alles vergänglich ist und dass sich das je nach Sichtweise entweder beängstigend oder befreiend anfühlen kann. Diese Songs haben zwar eine gewisse Düsternis, aber ich wollte auch einen Faden der Hoffnung einflechten.“

Seit der Veröffentlichung ihres von der Kritik gefeierten Debütalbums „Expectations“ (eine LP aus dem Jahr 2020, auf der sie ihre Erfahrungen als queere Jugendliche im christlichen Süden der USA dokumentierte und die ihr eine Nominierung als „Emerging Artist of the Year“ der Americana Music Association einbrachte) hat die in Nashville lebende, aus Georgia stammende Musikerin ein vielbeachtetes Werk geschaffen, das sich sowohl mit existenziellen als auch mit intimen Fragen auseinandersetzt. Katie Pruitt
is a Nashville transplant from the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia. Pruitt tackles human topics such as religion, mental health, and contemporary love songs with a modern twist. Her passionate delivery and powerful message are the reason her name has graced the bills of festivals such as Americana, 420 Fest, Pilgrimage, and sold out shows across the US and internationally.

After the 2018 release of her live Ourvinyl EP, Pruitt was named NPR's Slingshot Artist for 2019 and was also featured on All Song's Considered for her song "Grace Has A Gun." Not long after that she was chosen as the Luck Reunion Artist on the Rise for SXSW 2019. Pruitt has no plans of slowing down and when she isn't on the road you can find her in the studio writing and recording her debut record.
